Bio

Hi! I am Briony Liber If you are anything like I was for a large part of my career, you probably have a good handle on your career... or you did until you started going through a transition.  Maybe that transition was of your own doing, maybe it was imposed on you. All I know is that if you are reading this know you are probably feeling :

  • Stuck
  • Scared to speak up
  • Unseen
  • Unheard
  • Passed over for positions you thought you were in line for
  • Afraid to try
  • Afraid to fail
  • Like your confidence got up and left
  • Like you are dropping balls
  • Angry, vulnerable, confused, isolated
  • Unsure of what steps to take next.

And I know this because when I started looking around for a coach, this is exactly how I felt too. What I want you to know... You don’t have to know what you want to be - it will probably change over time anyway so learn from every experience along the way, and dabble, with intention. You can change your mind at any time. You are never too old to learn something new, change careers or figure out who you really are.

I wish I had known earlier in my career to... ... treasure every experience, every person, every encounter. Every element of your past leads you to where you are right now, but it does not have to direct where you go in the future. My investment in myself is an investment in you too! In the last few years, I have invested heavily in my personal and professional development. One of my greatest strengths is my desire to learn - and in doing so I have a desire to share what I learn too.

Briony Liber

One of the key lessons in my life has been that in knowing my strengths and where I need support, I have become a better version of myself. And by letting go of a lot of that ego, I have been able to move the metaphorical mountain that was standing in the way of managing my career like a business.

I am certain that if you are a self-starter, ambitious, and passionate about the business of being you - the time will come when you will feel a yearning growing inside you to make the move - towards living an intentional and purposeful life and managing your career like a business.

Believe me, climbing to the top of this certainty summit has not happened overnight. In fact, it took me about 18 years as an environmental and social risk consultant in the mining industry, as well as a few more years of studying, reading, and learning, to get to where I am now.

And where I am right now is a trained business coach registered with Coaches and Mentors of South Africa (Comensa) (Reg. No. 4238) and a certified NBI practitioner (SA010-1579). My values and beliefs around taking ownership of your career are embedded in my logo.

At first glance, my logo resembles a brain - a very busy brain. That's pretty much how clients come to me - overwhelmed, unfocused, unable to see the bigger picture, or unable to get out of the detail. That changes as the coaching journey unfolds. Over time the busyness is replaced with clarity, the ability to think clearly, a curiosity about other ways of seeing a situation, an ownership mindset, the ability to listen, to yourself and others, resilience and agility, and the capacity to step into the role as CEO of your career.

In my career journey, my relationship with my values has ebbed and flowed. When I allowed myself to be guided by and in a close relationship with my values, so much clarity emerged for me. That doesn't mean that everything is easy all of a sudden, but rather that I have a much greater ability to listen, really listen, to myself and what is true for me, rather than get sucked into assumptions about what  I think society says I should be doing.
