How do you start your day? A run on the mountain to clear the mind and think about the day ahead.
What are your daily habits that make you more productive each day? That morning run on the mountain where one appreciates life and the beauty around me that gives me positivity for the day.
What is the average start and end times for your day? I’m mostly up at 4.30am
What is your role and what does it entail on a daily basis? l am a trustee of the Cipla Foundation where I spend most of my time working with the communities around SA. I also run my own consulting business in the food and hospitality industry. I also travel extensively sharing my inspirational extreme adventure stories globally with corporates to inspire them to help ” ignight hope” globally. Then there is also my book I write on my adventures.
What is the tech that you use on a daily basis? Laptop, phone, tablet etc.? Whatever tech l can get l use. My travels take me all over and often I have to be very innovative to get info out. I have just returned from North Korea. It has no connectivity, anywhere and then near a border you get a stray signal and you have to act quickly make contact.
What Mobile Apps do you use on your phone? Maps, weather, news, Facebook and Twitter.
What Apps, software and tools can’t you live without? Maps and then my video editing.

What is your workspace set up like? My office is out there and changes on a daily basis. A couch, car, airport lounge, park, beach or local tavern, wherever there is wireless or signal.
What is your best time-saving shortcut you can share? Start your day by sitting down and make a list of where you have to be and what needs to be done, then plan the most effective route to deal with this.
How do you manage your To-Do List/ Calendar/ Email/ Notes etc..? With mails, never answer them immediately otherwise you create expectations that becomes a rod for your own back. To-do lists must be systematically dealt with and achieved. If you don’t check and update you calendar constantly, why the hell keep one then.
What gadgets do you use that you can’t live without? They vary depending on what I am doing. Business – Phone, laptop and tablet.
Adventure – headlamp, leatherman and phone.
What everyday thing are you better at than everyone else? l don’t feel I am better than those around me. I am just persistent, never give up and keep looking for different innovative ways to do things and achieve what I say I am going to do.
Do you listen to music while working and if so, what? Just when I drive, the rest of the time I need to be in tune with my environment and what is going on around me.
What are you currently reading? Dear leader. A story about North Korea.
When do you take your breaks during the day and what do you do? My day is back to back. When I get home in the evening, work stops and I shut down and make time for the family.
What websites steal your attention? I don’t web surf much, but it’s normally to look for facts relating to what I am doing.
How do you end your day? A cup of coffee and catch up on a bit of sports tv.
What is your sleep routine like? By 9.30 in the evening, I am a gonner.
