There are so many things to keep you entertained in Morgan Bay! We have an unspoilt mile-long beach, majestic cliffs criss-crossed by hiking and mountain bike trails, beach sports, fishing spots, horse riding, rock climbing and abseiling. Within a 15km radius you can enjoy a game reserve, a golf course, township tours and a tranquil coastal nature reserve, where you can hunt for Ming dynasty porcelain, Money Cowries and Carnelian Beads from a 17th Century Portuguese shipwreck.
The hotel sits right on the mile-long sandy beach at Morgan Bay. Popular activities include sunbathing, fishing, walking, beach cricket, touch rugby, swimming, beachcombing and kite surfing. Other beaches nearby include Bead Beach at Double Mouth and the Kei Mouth beaches.
Morgan Bay has a wide variety of birding habitats and over 280 species have been recorded here. Habitats include the ocean and shores, grasslands, coastal and riverine forests, rivers, estuaries, dams and gardens.
Enjoy a walk along the beach to the lighthouse and onwards to Kei Mouth, Signal Hill and the Pont. Alternatively, take a hike over the cliffs and along the shoreline to Double Mouth and Bead Beach. Local guide, Quicks, can also take you to Gxara village when you can enjoy a cultural experience, a forest walk, abseiling and snake handling.
The nearby Double Mouth Nature Reserve has a stunning little beach, just around the corner from the campsite. Bead Beach, or Treasure Beach as it is sometimes known, is the site of a 17th Century Portuguese shipwreck, thought to be the Santo Espirito. Carnelian beads, shards of Ming dynasty porcelain and money cowries are often found among the shingle here.
The Kei Mouth Country Club has a 13-hole golf course with sea views and separate tee boxes, which make it an 18-hole course. There is also a club house with change rooms, a restaurant and pub with outdoor seating. Local members play on Wednesdays and Saturdays, so feel free to join in.
If you feel like shooting your friends and colleagues, then come and enjoy a day of paintballing with Morgan Bay Adventures. If you're feeling brave, then enjoy a thrilling day out, abseiling and rock climbing on the majestic Morgan Bay cliffs.
Great Kei Adventures offers guided tours, kayak rentals and transfer/shuttle services in the southern Wild Coast area. Their guided adventures include fishing, kayaking, foraging, birding, hiking, Transkei trips and many other options which can be tailored to your needs.
Enjoy a leisurely ride down to the beach and gallop alongside the waters edge. A fantastic activity for the whole family to enjoy. Wild Coast Horseback Adventures also do day rides and multi day rides along the Wild Coast.
The Morganville Farm Private Motorcycle Museum is located just 7km from Kei Mouth and houses over 650 motorcycles, a large passenger jet, several doubledecker buses, ox-wagons, train coaches, antique wooden organs and dentist's and barber's chairs.
Let experienced local mountain bike rider, Siyabulela Jack, take you on a guided tour of the area and experience the beauty and culture of the Eastern Cape like never before. Routes include: Double Mouth Nature Reserve, Umthombe Kei, Seagulls and Trennerys, Gxara Falls and numerous Xhosa villages! All skill levels catered for.

Have you seen the amaXhosa in their traditional attire, listened to their music and eaten their food? No? Well come and experience a day in the life of the locals of iCwili township near Kei Mouth, and experience all of this and more!
Young children will have great fun in the calm and shallow waters of the Morgan Bay lagoon, Hire a canoe or a stand-up paddleboard from the hotel reception and explore the upper reaches. There is a lot of bird life to be seen amongst the channels and islands.
14km walk/run or 22km run or 26km cycle or 45km cycle - take yor pick! The HagMorKei is held once a year, during the December school holidays, and crosses the hills, beaches and rivers between Haga Haga, Morgan Bay and Kei Mouth. All proceeds go to the local Gxara Village Creche.
Morgan Bay has a right point break that produces reasonably consistent right hand barrels that funnel into the bay. Summer offers the best conditions when off shore winds are from the North West. Ground swells are more frequent than wind swell and the best swell direction is from the South.
The rugged Morgan Bay cliffs are popular with hikers and offer excellent photographic opportunities - it's not surprising that so many of our newlyweds have their photos taken up there! They're also an excellent location for watching the sunrise, or enjoy a sundowner with friends and family.
Morgan Bay and Double Mouth offer good rock and surf fishing options. The nearby Great Kei river is also quite productive and deep sea enthusiasts can launch their own boats through the Kei river mouth. There are several guides in the area and deep sea charters can be arranged.
There is a bowling green in the Morgan Bay Caravan Park, where members play on Thursdays and Sundays, while in Kei Mouth they play on Wednesdays and Saturdays - Everyone is welcome to join in!
