2006 he also performed for a large internal launch for McDonalds as well as performed in the FNB Lifestart campus road-show, in which he travelled to campuses countrywide that same year.

Trevor Gumbi is somewhat outspoken and can sometimes be controversial but is enjoyed for it. He is active in the corporate world where he can be found entertaining executives and their staff with tailored material.

He has appeared at several major South African comedy events. These include performing at Oppikoppi, Rocking the Daisies, King-size Comedy Jams, Blacks Only, Laugh out Loud and the Arts Alive Comedy Festival.

Trevor also has voice-over experience in which he voices one of the characters on e.-TVs Jozi Zoo.

He can also be heard doing skits on 5FM as The Black Guy at a Braai. He further enjoyed success on his skit show for the Vodacom Super 14 rugby season as Offside Vilakazi on The desk with Offside Vilakazi.

Trevor is widely recognised for his character on Vodacom’s Brother Ubuntu Freedom ads and the voice of the foul in Hippo Insurance ad campaigns. He was also a senior scriptwriter for the political satire talk show, Last Say, on SABC 3.

Further, he was on the weekly celebrity entertainment show, The Real Goboza, on SABC 1, and featured as a comedian in the January episode of the Comedy Central Series, Comedy Central Presents…Live at Parker’s, in 2013.

In 2014 he starred in the eKasi+ sitcom, Van 'n Sit, as Thomas Gumbi, a humble man who hailed from a township in Newcastle and who is in love with Mpho, last born and only daughter of the Ledwaba’s, a royal and wealthy family.

Trevor also starred in his own dark comedy-drama series, The Sober Companion, on SABC3 and replaced DJ Sbu as host of the SABC 1 game show, Friends like these, beginning his reign with the fourteenth season.

In 2017 he got a role as Zach in the SABC 1 sitcom, Rented Family, in which a washed up and perpetually broke, former soap-star with a teenage daughter has nowhere to go.
